Snow Rider 3D
Created by: GameBiz
If you've ever wanted to careen downhill on a sled without risking a bruised tailbone, this slick little 3D racer might scratch the itch. You steer a colorful toboggan through an endless snowy wilderness dotted with snowmen, log cabins, and deceptively jolly-looking trees that will absolutely end your run if you clip them. Controls are as simple as it gets, left, right, jump, but that doesn't mean it's easy. The further you go, the faster it gets, and the more devious the obstacles become, from scattered snowballs to thick evergreen forests with barely enough room to slip between the trunks. Collect presents as you slide along to unlock new sled styles, all while accompanied by a peppy instrumental version of Sleigh Ride that makes crashing into a snowman feel oddly festive. The low-poly style is charming in that blocky, early-2000s-Windows-screensaver kind of way, and the snow sound effects are surprisingly satisfying. Fun fact: sledding (aka 'coasting') became a formal sport in the 1800s, with the first purpose-built sled run built in Switzerland in 1870, back when wooden sleds and snowy danger were the height of winter thrill-seeking.
