Taxi Rush

City traffic is already a special kind of chaos, but apparently someone decided it needed a taxi driver with a stopwatch and a leaderboard. Your job is to weave through busy streets, pick up passengers, deliver them safely, and get where you are going without turning the cab into an expensive collection of spare parts. The driving is straightforward enough to learn, but the challenge comes from reading the road ahead, avoiding other vehicles, steering around roadblocks, and choosing routes that keep your passengers moving. You'll need to balance speed with control, because arriving quickly is useful, but arriving with your taxi and your reputation intact is considerably better. As you complete trips, you'll earn rewards that can be used to upgrade and customize your vehicle, giving you more incentive to keep improving your runs rather than simply driving around until the city becomes familiar. The changing traffic, intersections, obstacles, and passenger demands give each trip a little more personality, while the leaderboard adds that familiar competitive itch for anyone who has ever said, 'I'm just going to beat my previous score' and then spent another twenty minutes trying. Fans of classic arcade driving games, city racing games, taxi simulators, and old-school titles like Crazy Taxi will recognize the basic appeal, although this version puts more emphasis on navigating traffic and building up your cab through upgrades. There is also a neat bit of real-world taxi history hiding behind all those yellow cars: New York City's famous yellow taxi color became standard in the early 20th century partly because yellow was considered highly visible from a distance, which is a surprisingly practical reason for a color that now feels almost inseparable from the idea of a city cab. Keep your eyes on the road, plan your turns, dodge the traffic, satisfy those passengers, and see how high you can climb before the city's drivers collectively decide that lane discipline is a myth.
