House 23 Escape
Created by: Starodymov
A mysterious letter, an abandoned manor, and a missing magician, sounds like the start of a cozy bedtime story, except this one bites back. In this eerie escape-room-meets-hidden-object puzzler, you're the magician's student, drawn to house number 23 by a cryptic warning and a distinct lack of adult supervision. The house is full of exactly the kind of vintage gothic nonsense you’d expect: cobwebbed rooms, suspiciously locked boxes, rituals gone sideways, and oh yeah, the minor problem of a still-open portal. You’ll scavenge for keys, combine oddball inventory items, and solve very gentle puzzles where the house itself practically whispers the answers (“Something’s missing... maybe a rope?”). The interface feels lovingly stuck in time, with crisp vector lines over bitmap backdrops that call back to the glory days of Flash escape games like Haunted Mansion or The Crimson Room. You’ll click, drag, and combine your way through enchanted doorways and haunted parlors, unraveling the mystery before the house finishes snacking on your soul. And speaking of soul snacks: did you know wormwood (Пелин in Cyrillic, pronounced pyé-leen) has been used since ancient times to ward off evil spirits, and also flavor absinthe? So maybe don’t toss that leafy sprig too soon. The game’s spooky tone leans more Scooby-Doo than Stephen King, so while there’s occult flavor, it’s all in good fun and perfectly safe for curious grown-ups who like a little ghost with their gameplay.
